Back Quiver For Hunting (Ultimate Buying Guide)
Do you know how to choose the right back quiver for your hunting needs? No worry as this guide is going to teach you everything you need to know about using and choosing the quivers that you can carry on your back.
In this section, I am going to explain each feature in depth so that you can understand the use and functionality of back quivers. I am going to cover the arrow capacity, pocket depth, comfort and also the use of quivers for hunting.
Let’s get started:
1. Arrow capacity
The arrow capacity is the number of arrows that the quiver can handle with ease. It is easy to go over the limit, but you need to remember that if you go over the capacity that it will become harder to take an arrow out of the quiver.
The time you have between spotting an animal and drawing your bow is very limited, so you do not want to bottleneck your drawing speed by having too many arrows in your quiver. Most of the quivers in this section can carry anywhere from 14 up to 40 arrows at once with ease.
One thing that you also need to consider is that broadhead arrows take up more space than regular field point arrows. With this in mind, you can expect to cut the arrow capacity by 30 percent. If you want to maximize your arrow capacity, then I would highly recommend the Unistrengh quiver which has a capacity of up to 40 arrows.
2. The quiver depth
The depth of the pocket is essential if you do not want your arrows to easily fall out while you bend over. As a bow hunter, you will be aware of the fact that you sometimes need to crawl and crouch your way into a specific position or to get closer to your prey.
The depth of the quivers listed in this review will range from 19 up to 23.2 inches in depth. The most common length of arrows that hunters prefer is going to be 30 inches which can easily be worn by these quivers. Crossbow bolts are also much shorter than regular compound or recurve bow arrows. So it is important to note that you should never choose a quiver that is longer or has the same length as the bolts of your crossbow.
It is ideal for the arrows or bolts to at least be more than 3 inches longer than that of your quiver for an easier reach. You will make it so much easier on yourself and to draw the arrow from your quiver if you remember this statement.
3. The comfortability of wearing a back quiver
When you have your target on sight, then you do not want anything to get in your way. There is nothing worse than a quiver that falls from your shoulder just before you release your arrow from the bow. You also do not want your quiver to get in the way while hunting.
Most of the quivers in this review will have a 3-point harness system. The adjustable shoulder strap will then be attached to two more straps that will connect to the bottom part of the quiver past each side of your body next to your hips. This feature will make sure that the quiver stays in place and does not fall from your shoulder. You can also adjust the shoulder strap and the other two straps to fit your unique body shape and size.
4. How to use back quivers for hunting
You can use quivers by drawing arrows straight from them or by refilling the quiver that is already attached to your compound bow. If you are using a recurve bow by chance, then you have no option other than drawing the arrows directly from the quiver.
If you are hunting with a compound bow that already has a quiver attached, then I would not waste my money or time with a back quiver. This type of product is handy for when you are hunting with a more traditional kind of bow such as a recurve bow.
The best way to use these quivers is when you are hunting by foot or when you are using pop-up blinds to conceal yourself. However, I would not use a back quiver using a treestand. The reason for this is that some treestands have limited space and you already need to use a safety harness which will make it harder to use and fit your back quiver.
The only exception of using a back quiver while on a treestand is when there is enough space on the stand to move around. If you have already used a treestand, then you will know whether it is feasible to use a back quiver. You also need to consider your body frame because a larger body frame might make it harder to wear a quiver while on a treestand.
#1 G4Free (Top Pick)
Best For: This product is for the hunter that wants the best value for money.
If I were to hunt with a back quiver, then I would go with this product from G4Free. You can choose between two colors which are black and camouflage. It makes use of one shoulder strap that you can either use on your right or left shoulder. This shoulder strap will also connect with two more straps that will go along each waist. All of the straps are also adjustable to fit most sizes.
They also made this product out of nylon weaved canvas that is both tough, durable and lightweight. This product also has a soft texture like that of a duffle bag. You can fit around 30 arrows inside this quiver. The quiver is 21.7 inches long and 5.5 inches wide. This product also has a zippable pouch that you can use to store some of your valuables.

If you would like to know which back quiver was the least expensive, then I would recommend the Allen Youth. The primary color of the quiver is black, but you can also choose between variations of green and ping linings. This product also uses only one adjustable shoulder strap that you can sling over your left or right shoulder. You can hold up to 14 arrows, and the quiver length is 19 inches. #3 XTACER
Best For: This product is ideal for the hunter that wants the best back quiver for hunting.
If you are after quality, then this back quiver from XTACER is going to be your best bet. This quiver is built in such a way that it will only work with one side and not both. This particular quiver is constructed just for right-sided hunters. There are other options where you can choose a left-handed quiver as well. What I also liked was that it has quick release buckles that make it easier to take the quiver off your back.
This quiver has four removable tubes that are 29mm thick. These tubes enable you to group your arrows, or put in individual arrows in the case of broadhead arrows. Please keep in mind that I would not recommend placing broadhead inside the tubes. If you would like to use broadhead, then you must remove the tubes and put the arrows in the empty pocket.
The quiver is also 21 inches deep which mean you can comfortably fit arrows with a length of 32 inches into the quiver. The size of the quiver also allows you to store up to 30 arrows which are good. This quiver also has two zippable pouches stacked on top of each other to where you can store other essential gear. There are also two velcro straps near the top area that you can use to strap your bow.

#4 SAS Archery
Best For: This product is suitable for those that want a simple, large and good quality back quiver for hunting.
If you did not like the quiver from XTACER, then you might like this one from SAS Archery. This quiver is somewhat the same quality but costs less. It has a camouflage color scheme that will be an excellent fit for your hunting experience. This quiver will either fit left or right handed shooters but not both. You need to choose between the left or right-handed product that represents that specific orientation.
This quiver also makes use of an adjustable shoulder strap that connect to a 3 point type harness. The quiver itself is made from a high-quality 600D Polyester material which is very durable and lightweight. The size of this quiver is also large enough so that it can hold up to 30 arrows. The pocket in which you must put the arrows is also 19 inches deep that allows for arrow lengths up to 32 inches. This product also has an additional pocket and include one small zippable pocket with mesh and one larger pocket.

#5 KRATARC
Best For: This product is ideal for hunters that want to make use of a molly system on their quiver.
If you are in love with molle systems and you would like a quiver that has a molle system in place, then you will love this product from KRATARC. It comes in the colors black and camo. They made this quiver to be only one sided which means that it will not fit both right or left handed archers. The color camo is best suited for right-handed shooters. It is made out of 900D polyester which is the most common material used for tactical wear.
What stood out for me was that this quiver has a molle and velcro system. The molle system allows you to attach more pouches at a later stage while the velcro will enable you to attach badges. It is also 21.6 inches deep which allows for longer arrows, and this quiver can comfortably carry up to 24 arrows. The shoulder strap has a snap hook buckle that allows you to attach objects to it.
The adjustable shoulder strap also connects to a harness that will ensure a better fit. The harness part can be released with the help of buckles. On the outside of the quiver, you will find a zippable pocket that allows you to store some of your gear.

The will also be a cap on top of the quiver that you can use to close it up. This feature can be useful to keep rainwater out of the pocket area, but then you will not be able to carry arrows longer than 23 inches. It also makes use of a 3-point shoulder strap that can be released with the help of buckles. It also has molle webbing that will allow you to attach more pouches at the later stage.
