Type of steel used

• 1095 steel. This steel is very tough because of the higher carbon content. It will keep its edge for much longer and is resistant to wearing out. The only problem is that the higher carbon content makes it more prone for rust to appear. To counter this problem, knife manufacturers will coat their knives to prevent them from rusting.
