Stabilizers act as a counterbalance which reduces the wobble intensity while you are aiming and it also reduces the vibration which might steer your arrow off target. Some stabilizers can eliminate some of the noise that comes from the vibration that originates from the bow.
If you would like to improve your shooting and hunting experience overall, then you need to look into bow stabilizers as they can profoundly influence your performance.
How to choose the right stabilizer?
Choosing the right stabilizer for your bow is not easy, and sometimes it takes trial and error before you find the right one. And this is why you should try to choose the right stabilizer for your bow from the bat. If accuracy is your main concern, then I would recommend reading this article on the best bow stabilizer for accuracy.
Most people do not have the time or money to test different stabilizers, and this is why I have written this section. So without further ado, let’s get started with what to look for in stabilizers.
Budget
Some stabilizers are more expensive than others, and that is for a good reason. The average price for a stabilizer is around $50-$60 per item. The absolute least expensive stabilizer is approximately $15 while the most expensive one is just under $300.
If you are short on a budget and you want an inexpensive option, then I would highly recommend the LimbSaver S-Coil which is a good option.
Length and weight
The size of the stabilizers listed in this article ranges from 4″ up to 11″ in length and from 3.2 oz up to 16 oz. If you are hunting in trees or tree stands and you are somewhat constricted into a small space, then you might want to make use of the shorter versions of stabilizers.
For tight spots, I would recommend anything from 4 up to 6 inches to minimize any obstacles that might prevent you from nailing down your prey.
Wind resistance
Some of the stabilizers in the market have a large surface area which might make your shooting unstable while the wind is blowing.
The reason for this is that the wind might blow against the stabilizer and put force against it. In return, this will make your shooting less accurate. This is the reason why some of the stabilizers listed in this article have open grooves which will allow for some of the air to pass through.
If you always find yourself hunting in windy conditions, then I would highly recommend the following stabilizer:

Noise and vibration
Most compound bows already have a string dampener which cancels out most of the vibrations and noise which can cause problems. Stabilizers are known to further improve on these two specific functions. Sound and vibration are not different entities as the sound is one of the end products of vibration.
As a rule of thumb, the less vibration you have, the less noise you will make. Most stabilizers have dampeners inside which are made from NAVCOM (Noise and Vibration Control Material) which can help in eliminating some of the vibrations and noise.
If the bow vibrates even a little before the arrow is released entirely from the bow, then you will not shoot as accurate. If you are serious about eliminating vibration, then I would recommend the EBBQ Axion SSG Stabilizer, the Trophy Ridge Static Stabilizer and also the LS Hunter.
Counter balancing
Bow stabilizers are also known for counterbalancing your bow and making your aim steadier. The added weight at the end of the stabilizer will pull the bow straight down which will in return give you a more constant aim.
Usually the longer the stabilizer, the more control it will give you regarding aim, but you need to find a balance between the length and weight because you do not want the stabilizer to be too long either.
This feature works exceptionally well for lighter bows.

Yes, you heard right. Some stabilizers can record your hunting experience.

This stabilizer can be more expensive than some of the other ones listed here but do not let the price deter you away from at least wanting to learn more about it. There are two sizes available which are the 4 and 6 inch. There are also two color schemes available which are the Realtree Extra and Lost.
What you need to know:
- Very nice design. The design of this product stood out for me. Depending on the size, you will get from 6 up to 8 dampeners inside the stabilizer. The design alone will also contribute to the next couple of features.
- It provides up to 80% less wind resistance. This small device is an open framework with the dampeners inside which will allow for air to pass through. With this stabilizer, you do not need to be afraid of the wind messing up your control over the bow.
- Will shoot with less noise. The dampeners will reduce not only the vibrations but also the sound. Now you do not have to worry about scaring away animals.

If you want to get your hands on a stabilizer that also takes wind into consideration, then you will enjoy the SAS Aluminum Stabilizer. This stabilizer is a little bit more expensive than the Limbsaver, but you also get to choose from 3 sizes. There are also 2 colors available which are black and camo. It is easy to install and also cancels out some of the noise when shooting.
Some of the features that I know you will like:
- It allows for air to travel through. This can especially be useful when hunting in windy conditions. Now you do not have to worry that the wind might cause the stabilizer to make your bow unstable.
- Will cancel out most of the vibration. Now you do not have to worry about making a lot of noise or missing your target because of the inaccuracy that is being caused by vibration.
- Has multiple sizes to choose from. Now you can choose between the sizes small, medium and large for your hunting needs.

If you would like to have an option where you can adjust the length of the stabilizer, then you will love the NAP Apache. This stabilizer comes in 2 color schemes which include black and also a Multicam color. This stabilizer is also not that expensive and is in the same price range as the SAS and Trophy Ridge.
Some of the features that you will love:
- Can adjust the length of the stabilizer. This 8-inch stabilizer can easily be broken down into the 5-inch version by removing the 3-inch shaft. This ability is a unique feature that allows you to adjust the balance of your bow on the spot.
- It takes out most of the vibration. As most stabilizers, this one also can cancel out some of the vibrations associated with compound bows. Altogether this will result in a more silent and accurate shot.
- Can shoot in windy conditions. The design of this gadget will also allow some of the air to pass through which is associated with wind. It will then result in a more accurate shot.

This is not the first stabilizer from Limbsaver as I have already mentioned the S-Coil as a candidate. The one that I am going to talk about now is going to be the LS Hunter. There are eight types of LS Hunter stabilizers to choose from where each one will vary in color. This stabilizer is also more expensive than all of the previous ones mentioned. It also has an option where you can remove the dampener at the end for if you want to attach more weights to it.
More features to consider:
- Can adjust the mass at the end. This stabilizer comes with a removable broadband dampener that can be unscrewed. It will allow you to add more weights (not included) to make it more personalized.
- A large variety of colors/patterns to choose. You are presented with up to 8 choices in colors and patterns that will range from solid colors to more elaborate designs that bring in camouflage.
- It comes with noise-canceling technology. The Broadband dampener at the end is made out of NAVCOM (Noise and Vibration Control Material) material which will give you more control over the bow.

- Will shoot silently and more accurately. This stabilizer like most of the other will also help to reduce some of the noise made and even the vibrations.
